OgreDungeon Alpha to Beta 0.1.0 Update

OgreDungeon

Beta 01

version Alpha 0.0.7 to version Beta 0.1.0 update

Notes

- Ogre Dungeon's Alpha Test Phase has completed.

- Ogre Dungeon's Beta Test Phase begins with a focus on fine tuning the gameplay loop and polishing up the UI.

- The game has been boiled down to one dungeon instead of the earlier 4 plus 1 scheme. Just like in the original Rogue game, it's just 1 solid randomized dungeon. Get in, get the treasure, and get out alive.

- Ogre Dungeon was always meant to be a quick and straightforward game you could just pick up and play. To that end, the interactable Tavern scene between dungeons has been changed to function simply as the start and end scene to your adventures. Players will get to the meat of the game much faster and with less confusion.

- Leaving the dungeon without the treasure and/or using a Portal Scroll will still return you to the Tavern but for the time being it just acts as a dungeon reset. In this way, a player could escape the dungeon and try again while keeping their items and experience (since they didn't die).

- Bookshelves are now active. Books can identify Magic Scrolls for use. They can also have little tidbits of lore that educate the player on things like monster strengths and weaknesses.

- Both the touchscreen and the D-Pad controls are active right now. Players can move, fight, and interact with the environment both by touch or by button.

Still in Progress

- Still tinkering with the player character's progression system. Right now, the character simply levels up to acquire new skills.

- Champions and Boss monsters are on the way.

- A few more items, scrolls, and potions to come. Many already in game now.

- The UI has been brushed up a bit but it still needs work.

Known Issues

- It looks like the stutter and lag issues have been resolved for the most part but if this happened to you on your Android device, please don't hesitate to comment with your specs. It will help a lot towards locating the problem.

- OgreDungeon has not been tested on any Android tablets or those new folding screen phones. It should work, but the resolution is intended for portrait mode on a cell phone so the UI might look stretched and odd. New resolutions will be added later.
